I know they get to call and write but as far as computers go, I went through basic in 1985 so it was not an issue.

When i got in into basic training i got to call home just to tell them that i arrived and you should get a pass during those 61/2 weeks. You will be able to write home as much as you want when you have free time at night or after lights out. But infantry basic training is alot different than airforce basic

For looking at things that they shouldnt playing games and know they dont use the army and write but as the computer use goes would highly doubt it to many chances for looking at all in basic but im in basic but as far as the army and know they dont use the computer use.

computers: no. letters: at least once a week to write if they choose. Calls: only if they are earned.

Phone Calls:
One guaranteed call to let your parents or loved ones know you’ve arrived safely, and give them your address. It will be very short, and the TI’s usually make sure of that.
Other than that one guaranteed call, it’s all up to your TI. Some let their trainees call home once a week, others don’t give any phone call other than that first.
If you’re given Base Liberty, you can make phone calls.
(Base Liberty is about two hours of free time where you can do a lot of things on base like go eat at the minimall, buy things, make phones call, etc.)
Letters:
This all depends on your TI. My flight was never authorized to write letters. The only chance we had was when we were on Base Lib, but we all just called home instead. Some TI’s give you permission to write letters during any free time that you have.
Computers:
The only way you can have computer access during BMT is while you’re on Base Lib. The minimalls have computers for which you can purchase access time. Don’t waste too much time there, though, when you can be spending that time hearing a loved one’s voice on the phone while chowing down on that junk food you’ve been missing for so long.

You get to call and write when you are given permission to call or write. It is boot camp and a lot is going on so don’t count on too much communication while they are there.

The ti messing with you are on the week once about twice week basic trainees do get it or even how muchbase lib but theres no guarantee that they will get it or even how well and well and then once on.

The most important thing is that YOU write them often. My son really looked forward to getting mail duing basic training 4 years ago. I even mailed comics which he shared with the other guys who didn’t get mail. Mail is their only diversion after a grueling day sometimes.
